Checking In on Your Goals of 2023

Hey there, everyone! I hope you are having the most fantastic week ever! January is such a busy month for me, and this past week was no different! However, I sure am getting caught up on things this weekend and I am going to be ready to tackle another busy week ahead!

I have a question for you…this is typically the week in January that people start to give up on their goals. How are you doing on your goals? I guess it seems that people start off so strong and so excited about the upcoming year and all of the things they want to accomplish they tend to go 0 to 60. I get it. I’ve been there before as you’ve heard me say, and that’s why I typically really shy away from New Year’s resolutions. For me, my goals are going pretty well! I know that this is because I had a solid plan, ways to pivot if needed, and I have been celebrating every single small win I can possibly celebrate.

Here are some of my tips for staying on track…hoping they can help you stay on top of your goals too! I want you to succeed this year!

  • I keep a physical copy of my goals posted in front of me in several places in my home and at my office. I put them in both my school planner and my home planner. I have them posted on my board behind my home computer. In addition, I keep them in my phone so I can keep watching them each day! I need constant reminders. Not because I will forget, but I find they keep me on track and motivated, even when times are a bit challenging!
  • In addition to goals, I mark my milestones in my planner so that I can keep on top of my progress. I highlight when I will celebrate the wins, but more importantly, I use these as a checklist for what I need to accomplish each week so that I don’t forget something and can adjust mid week if needed.
  • I focus on the wins. I always know when I haven’t accomplished something, but taking the time to reflect at the end of each day and celebrating even the smallest win helps me know that I am making a difference in the world, and that is my mission.
  • Finally, I take one day each month (January’s day is coming soon) when I sit down, reflect on my progress, and adjust as needed. I know that I will NOT accomplish all of the BIG goals I have, but giving myself the grace to pivot as needed, keeps me from the discouragement of not attaining every single milestone.

As you can see, I spend a lot of time reflecting and adjusting as needed. This is so important, as life happens…and we cannot always control it…but we can control how we respond. I will not give up on my dreams this year…so don’t you do so either! I hope these tips can help you stay on top of your goals! Until next time! Cheri ❤️
